The Dorset countryside can be explored both by foot or by bike with numerous footpaths and bridleways both inland and along the coast.  While you travel through the countryside you will discover pretty chocolate-box villages, historic market towns and traditional country pubs and tearooms.

Dorset has many famous past residents from Thomas Hardy, one of the greatest writers of all time to Alfred the Great, one of our most famous kings - you can visit many of their homes and discover their history at various attractions across the county.

Dorset also has a huge variety of beaches offering something for everyone with many having blue flag status and offering watersports including sailing, surfing and windsurfing.  Dorset is also known for its majestic Jurassic Coast which has World Heritage Status and provides a glimpse back to the time of dinosaurs and is probably the best place in the UK to find yourself a fossil.
